Sotoba was a quiet, secluded village where 15-year
old Megumi Shimizu lived in. For Megumi, who desired the glamorous lifestyle
of the city, living in Sotoba was terribly agonizing, especially with
her annoying friend Kaori Tanaka (15) around. The only two things that
interested her in the village were a family from the city that had moved
into the mansion, and a boy named Natsuno Yuuki (15), who seemed to
share the same desire to move out of Sotoba and into the city. When
Sotoba was hit by a string of odd deaths which concerned the villagers,
Megumi chose to ignore it, and was more excited at the fact that a family
from the city moved into the mansion. One day, ignoring Kaori's remark
about the dark aura radiating from the mansion, Megumi decided to pay
a visit to the mansion.
Later that night, Megumi never returned to her home, and a search party
was then formed to look for her. What happened to Megumi? Who are these
city people? What is happening to the quiet village of Sotoba? Read

Shiki, translated literally into "Corpse Ghost",
is drawn by the Ryu Fujisaki, who is famed for Houshin Engi, Sakuratetsu
Taiwahen, and Waq Waq. The story is by Ono Fuyumi, who is also the author
for Junni Kokki(12 Kingdoms) and Ghost Hunt. It currently runs in the
monthly megazine of Jump Square
