What does Aku Tenshi means?

Aku means evil, and Tenshi means angel. So it literally means evil angel! I'm not entirely sure why we came up with that name, it just sounded cool to have the contrast there(at the time). This site use to be called 'Fantasy Chronicles', we changed it to Aku Tenshi because it sounded too much to be Final Fantasy related stuff. Not that I dislike FF, in fact I love it! But still....

What are scanlations?

Scanlations is the combined word for translated manga scans. Scans + Translations = Scanlations.

Where can I get these scanlations?

New releases can be obtained through IRC only, our IRC channel is located at #aku-tenshi @ irc.irchighway.net. To learn how to use IRC, click here.

When will the next update be?

It will be whenever we find the time to get the work done. So please do not email us and ask or whine about it. We've got more then enough things to worry about, but we'll do our best to keep it up! We have a Live Journal Community to inform people of recent updates.

Will you start on a new project / Can you do that [insert manga name] manga?

We may and we may not. Depending on what we have and what is required (translator, editor, etc.) It will most definitely have to be unlicensed mangas in North America and mangas that have not been translated into English yet. It'll mostly depend on our interest I guess.

Why did you drop [insert manga name] scanlation project?

It's probably cause it got licensed, we don't want to compete with other groups that's also doing it, or that we lost interest in it. The discontinued projects would less likely to be revived.

Can I use you scans?

It'll mostly depend on how you use it. If you're using it for your site, as in putting it up on your site, translating it into your language, etc. Then please inform us before you do so. If you're using it for personal stuff, like printing some pictures out, CG-ing it for fun, use it for a school project (Hey! I do that a lot!), and those sort of stuff. Then feel free to use them.

Some may say "Stealing? Aren't you guys stealing from the mangakas yourself?" Yes we are, but why would one read our scanlations when they ask that at the same time? I really wonder... It's hard work, and we don't do it for our own benefits. Our main purpose is to promote manga to the english speaking community that doesn't have access to them. All we ask for is a little bit of credit for scanning, translating, and editing the manga.

Where did you get the mangas? And where can I purchase them?

We mostly purchase them at our local stores or online. I can't help you out with the local stores, but I can suggest a few online stores for you...
